3月11日, 2021, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) which was signed into law by President Biden. 作为这项立法的一部分, NDMU is informing students of the opportunity to receive a financial aid adjustment if you or your family’s financial situation has changed significantly from what is reflected on your federal income tax return (for example, 如果你失去了工作或经历了收入下降). Students facing this situation should, if they have not already done so, file their FAFSA and subsequently may inquire with the Office of 金融援助 about completing a 专业判决上诉.  

Professional Judgement refers to the authority of a school’s financial aid administrator to make adjustments to the data elements on the FAFSA.  The school does not have the authority to change the need analysis formula itself or to make direct adjustments to the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).  Instead, the school may make adjustments to the family’s income reported on the FAFSA as a result of the special circumstance.  The standardized federal student aid formula is then applied to the new data elements, 得到一个新的EFC数字.
